Matthew Richardson, LCPC

Practicing Since: 2014

Matthew believes that the foundation for good therapy is trust. He believes that each of us has a desire to grow and change for the better, but oftentimes that means opening ourselves up to learn new ways of being. Matt understands that being vulnerable is not always easy, to which he creates a non-judgmental environment that will help to build trust. He will not pretend to be the expert on your life but will try to help you identify your “blind spots” and remove the barriers that are making it difficult for you to be at your best. Every person has different needs and good therapy is never “one size fits all”. Matthew will utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Existential techniques to help clients reach their goals.

Everyone has struggles and pain that can be difficult to accept. While there are certain mental health conditions that make it harder for some, Matthew believes that almost everyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their lives. He believes that being able to accept help is a sign of strength, not weakness. By better understanding our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, we can be at our best for ourselves, and the people we love.

Matthew was born and raised in Maryland, as the oldest of four siblings. Matthew has lived his life in the Harford and Baltimore County areas. He has been married for six years and just welcomed a baby boy to his family, along with his two dogs. In his free time, he enjoys rooting for the Orioles and Ravens, playing softball, jazz music, or playing cards.

Matthew is licensed in the state of Maryland #LC7868.
